Board and Train

Thorough and intensive residential dog training.

The Board and Train.

£1800 for 2 weeks.

Then £800 per week for every week after the initial 2 week stay.

For dogs aged minimum 8 months and upwards.

Your dog will come to live with us for two weeks (minimum) so that we can start from scratch. We will work with your dog in multiple short sessions every day teaching them good behaviour such as polite house manners, the loose lead walk, how to relax and how to be a great member of society.

The Board and Train is about setting a new routine and expectations for a dog who may have been having a hard time getting to grips with it all.

This program includes an introduction session, regular updates and an in-depth go home lesson where we show you how to maintain your dog’s training.

To begin with, we will arrange an assessment to learn more about your dog. We adore the Board and Train program and we love training dogs this way. We want to double check that this is the right service for you and your dog, and that we’re a good match for each other. You will be asked to visit us with your dog so that we can meet you both and make some notes on what’s going on. The price of this consultation is £50, which is deductible if you do go ahead and book the Board and Train afterwards.

  • What.

What is a Board and Train? It’s a residential training course for your dog. This isn’t a typical boarding service, but rather an intensive training program where your dog will receive multiple short training sessions with a trainer every day for two weeks or more.

As well as being confident and experienced in handling dogs, we have unique access to a wide array of experiences that can help a variety of behaviours and put your dog on the fast track towards your training goals.

Then it’s your turn. During your in-depth handover, we will train you to do all the techniques and approaches we have used and put you on a training plan to help your dog’s new behaviours carry over when they go home.

  • Where.

Your dog will come to live with us in our home. We are a licensed home boarding establishment with 4 stars awarded to us by our local council. Your dog will have access to our secure garden and living areas and will be treated with love and kindness as if they were our own.

Depending on the goals you ask for us to work on, we can walk and train your dog in busy, built up areas, or beautiful rural countryside, on their own or with lots of other dogs.

Your dog will always travel in safety and comfort in one of our dedicated vans.

“But what if my dog doesn’t behave the same for me when they come back? What if they only do it for you?”

This service is designed to include you every step of the way - it’s just that we do the training. First, we have an on-boarding session, where will we discuss with you at length what your goals are, make initial observations of your dog and tell you exactly what we think is achievable when we make our plan.

We will then update you each day with what your dog has done, how the training is going and how we are approaching our shared goals for your dog. It is usual for some days to be more exciting and productive than others - dog training isn’t linear! We will ask questions as and when they come up, and you will very much be included in the conversation. Transparency is extremely important to us.

At the end of the Board and Train, we will have an in-depth handover where we’ll first discuss everything we’ve done and everything we want you to continue doing in great detail, then we will show you exactly how to do it hands on. We want to make sure our training sticks just as much as you do, so it’s imperative we see you handling your dog to help you get comfy with everything you’ll need to do going forwards. You will be sent home with a training plan to ensure the training works just as well for you as it did for us.

Finally, we will check in. We want to know you’re doing fabulously, we want to know if you have any questions that have cropped up and we want to see how you’re getting on. We’ve put so much effort into training your dog, I promise you, we care more than you know!

What’s included?

  • We are happy to collect your dog from your home, wherever you live across the UK or in Bedfordshire. Your dog will travel in a dedicated vehicle designed with the safety and comfort of your dog in mind.

  • Every dog is different! Whilst we’ve worked with hundreds of dogs and seen lots of the same types of problem behaviours, we prefer to adjust our approach in accordance with each dog, their breed, their needs and of course your needs too.

  • We provide daily updates so that you are kept in the loop with your dog’s training and how they’re getting on. We love being able to offer this transparency, and it’s really important to us that our clients are a part of their dog’s training too.

  • We got into training dogs because we love them, and we care deeply about their safety. This is why we care about things like recall and other behaviours; because we care about them staying safe, in your homes and in your care. This is reflected in the way we care for dogs. Your dog will stay in our homes. When they sleep they will be warm and cosy. When it’s hot, we will keep them watered and ventilated. We prioritise healthy eating and proper exercise. Accidents happen - your dog will never be left in it. We keep our homes and your dog’s bedding clean and comfortable, just as you would at home. We are friendly with the local vets, canine first aid trained and know exactly what to do with your dog in the unlikely event of an emergency. We’re also friends with groomers, so we can get your pooch pampered if it suits. Your dogs comfort and happiness are our top priority.

  • We are invested in making sure your dog is as ready as possible to go home with all their shiny new training. This includes proofing behaviours, which basically means we will ensure that your dog is capable of performing the required behaviours in different environments, or, if needed, with different people and/or dogs. We want to prepare every dog for the success they’re about to have with you.

  • Your dog will learn loads whilst they’re with us, and you might wonder how you can keep up with the training or what the next steps are for when they come home. This is where the end of our package steps up. When you collect your dog, you will get an in-depth lesson which will include both theory and practical elements. You’ll then be sent home with a plan and a guide book, to ensure your dog’s smooth transition back into their home environment.

  • We care about our clients. We really want to provide the very best service we can, and whilst yes, we love dogs, we do in fact love people too. We want to see you happy with your dog and we are here to offer support and answers to your questions. We encourage our Board and Train clients to reach out to us with updates or questions at any time after their training, and are happy to talk things through or meet in person to see how things are going.
