Dog Walking
We are experienced, reputable and trustworthy walkers.
The Walk.
Walking services available in Bedford, Bedfordshire and Sudbury, Suffolk.
1 hour - £15.00
Your dog will join us for an hour long walk with other dogs both on lead and off lead (where previously discussed). They will be given the chance to play, exercise and train in locations suited to the needs of each pack.
We pride ourselves on our in-depth style of walking, where we like to proactively practice core behaviours such as recall and loose lead walking, as well as making sure each dog has a great time. We ensure that every dog is advocated for so that everyone can have fun and stay safe in our care.
Travel time is included in the price, but not included in the hour’s walk, so your dog will be guaranteed their full hour outside. For travel time, your dog will be comfortable and relaxed in one of our fully equipped vans.
We would be delighted to reinforce any training you are currently working on; it is our desire to be as helpful as possible in encouraging your dog to be well-rounded and happy.
Your dog will be cleaned and brushed where necessary before returning home. You will be updated with a report card after each walk via our app.
A note from Jen, our founder.
Not just any old walk…
Here at Fetch Club we feel that dogs thrive on being challenged according to their needs. This is based on experience and repeated reports from clients that their dog seems happier, calmer and more enjoyable to be around after their walks with us. This is because a Fetch Club walk is not simply a case of letting dogs off the lead for an hour of mischief before being taken home.
Every walk is tailored according to the dogs involved and every dog will be individually challenged in a way that helps them to grow. That could be growth in confidence, physical fitness or behaviourally. What’s important to us is that we provide a service that prioritises the overall wellbeing of your dog and how we can positively affect that in our time with them.
There are some essential things we like each Fetch Club dog to know for their walks and it is what we call a ‘Fetchucation’.
These are six things we go over with every new dog to make sure we can have as much fun as possible:
Marker words.
We want to make sure that each dog understands what yes, no and good mean. Having clear and consistent communication enables us to really reach every dog’s full potential.
Recall.
This is a vital part of off lead safety. We thoroughly check the recall of every dog in a variety of ways before coming off the lead for the first time. In addition, their recall will be tested every single time they are off the lead. We like to take a proactive approach and practice as much as we feel is necessary; practice makes perfect!
Lead Walking.
When we take on a new dog at Fetch Club, we will spend time ensuring they walk alongside us on a lead and don’t pull. This is so that when they are walking with a pack, they stay with the pack and don’t pull ahead.
Sit and wait.
This is a key behaviour that comes into play multiple times throughout the walk. For example, we might like your pup to sit and wait before we put their lead on or take it off, through doorways, at the side of a road or before they get a treat. It also informs their impulse control, which helps a lot when there are distractions around like squirrels and birds!
Thresholds.
Similar to sit and wait, it’s important to us that all the Fetch Club dogs are polite with thresholds. This is because we don’t want to instil a habit of rushing doors or gates. There will be plenty of time for running around, but we must behave in doorways.
Van behaviour.
Fetch Club dogs will travel in one of our vans in their own individual crate between the walks. We have provided everything a dog will need to stay comfortable because that’s exactly what we want them to be. Some dogs can be a little nervous of vehicles, and for that reason we make sure that we introduce them to our vans patiently and encourage them to relax inside.
